CHIKARA PURCHASED BY CALIFORNIA BASED MEDIA COMPANY
by Mike Johnson @ 12:15 PM on 1/6/2011

The following press release was issued on 1/3, announcing that CHIKARA, one of the more original and unique independent groups running today, was purchased by the California-based Worldwide Media Development Corporation, a company which describes itself as "one of the world's leading and most respected entertainment development companies."
January 3, 2011 - Philadelphia, PA

Worldwide Media Development Corporation (WMDC) of Reseda, CA is proud to announce the acquisition of CHIKARA, Inc./Five Star Promotions of Philadelphia, PA, effective today. Robert Lippincott, Executive Director for WMDC finalized the agreement of sale through the assistance of Karen Wright, acting vice-president of acquisitions.

"Karen (Wright) and Anton (Frady) deserve all the credit for bringing this exciting property to Worldwide. After nine seasons of reinventing an entire genre from the bottom up, CHIKARA is the premiere brand in its field, and it's time for the rest of the world to find out why."

It is expected that some of the directors from CHIKARA/Five Star will remain on during the transitional period. "I understand that Dave Coulier has an office there," Lippincott remarked, "and I'd really look forward to doing lunch with him (laughs.)"

Thanks to David Majors for his help

why do you think Taker's streak is what it is?

I am still impressed that there were 5 Ultimate Warriors, and WWE cant get any of them to show up at the Hall of Fame.

How is this a storyline christmas tripsy, they just got new owners, it isnt TNA?

Well its been 10 months and I've seen little growth if any from Chikara.

As for TNA bashing.? That should be obvious. Impact is the worst wrestling TV show ever. There supposedly will be ANOTHER new direction after Bound for Glory. But I've gotten my hopes up for that before only to be let down.

I just find it pointless to bash a company you don't like. Like me I'm not as big of a WWE fan as when I was younger but I watch it for the handful of stars I like (mainly Miz, R-Truth, Jack Swagger, & Dolph Ziggler & occasionally Alberto Del Rio). IK if I don't like something I don't watch it or buy it.

This is a forum. Bashing is kinda the norm. People bash it because they care about the current state of something they have a strong affection for, and for the record many here have stopped watching. I just watched my first Impact in months last week.

I bash TNA 24 hours a day 7 days a week, but I make sure I still watch it every Thursday night. I guess I'm not really that sincere about my bashing.

I watch TNA every week as well. I would rather watch it, than Raw right now because Raw sucks and SD is worse. That being said TNA sucks, but they have some good talent that makes me want to watch.
